Historical Re-enactment & Museum Reproductions.
Some years ago I qualified as an archaeological conservator where I worked for a variety of institutions including English Heritage and York Archaeological Trust. In this time I cared for a wide varity of artefacts but I was always noted for being more interested in learning how to make a “new one” than in dealing with the
originals, and consequently was usually volunteered to make any replica objects needed by these institutions. This lead me into historical re-enactment where I’ve had the opportunity to experiment with a huge range of crafts
from textiles and embroidery, to forge and foundry work, taking in woodworking, horn bone and antler carving, leather work and much more besides. I had originally intended to make pieces only for my own needs and the enjoyment of learning traditional craft skills, but I am increasingly being approached about reproducing a wider and wider range of commissioned pieces. As well as bespoke commissions I can also offer a modest selection of standard items which can be found in the catalogue section of this web site. The images shown below are just a few of the varied replicas I have produced
for museums, re-enactors and "Living History" enthusiasts over the past few years, and a wider selection can be seen in the
gallery section of this web site.
